Leadership and Self Discovery Practicum (LSDP)
An Opportunity Exclusively for First-Year Students at Eckerd
The Leadership and Self Discovery Practicum (LSDP) is a program specifically designed for first-year students at Eckerd College, in which students engage in LOTS of hands-on activities in order to learn about themselves, practice teamwork, and develop leadership skills.
During LSDP you complete personality assessments to learn about your personal strengths, AND gain insight into people with different strengths. We do a LOT of problem-solving activities and games in small- and large-groups to practice to working with peers who have different talents and preferences than your own.
We travel off campus for two days, during which you have the opportunity to participate in high-ropes courses and other team-building activities that enable students to challenge themselves.
Students work in small groups to develop (and potentially implement) a project to improve the Eckerd College Campus community. You are introduced to new ideas, traditions, and upperclass students, all of which will enable you to find and solidify your role on campus.
While doing all of this, you have a TON of fun and make friendships that may last throughout your years at Eckerd College and beyond!
